The Alpine F1 staff announced Tuesday that Piastri had been promoted to a race seat for the 2023 season following being a member of Alpine’s junior application considering that 2020.

“I fully grasp that, without having my agreement, Alpine F1 have set out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them following 12 months,” Piastri posted to Twitter. “This is incorrect and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine future calendar year.”

Piastri reportedly has signed a offer with McLaren, in accordance to ESPN. McLaren would have to transfer on from driver Daniel Ricciardo to deliver Piastri aboard.
