Fantastic Samaritan rescues fisherman off Oregon coast as flames engulf boat, Coastline Guard says

A boater off the coast of Oregon rescued a fisherman trapped aboard a commercial fishing vessel as it burst into flames on Saturday early morning, a U.S. Coastline Guard (USCG) official stated.

The lone fisherman aboard the 42-foot commercial vessel despatched in the distress connect with at 6:30 a.m. whilst about 2 miles off the coastline of Oregon’s Manzanita Beach front, the official included. 

When Coast Guard rescuers arrived and uncovered the vessel engulfed in flames, the official stated the crew discovered that a Fantastic Samaritan had rescued the fisherman just before the hearth consumed the ship.

The Coastline Guard brought the fisherman aboard their vessel and took him to shore, officials explained. He reportedly experienced no injuries when escaping the hearth and was in good ailment.

“He got off the boat before it went up seriously bad,” the fisherman explained. “There’s no halting that fire … It is a unfortunate offer seeing your boat go down.”

The Coast Guard set up a 1000-property protection zone all over the burning boat as smoke billowed into the sky.

Later on in the day, the Coastline Guard tweeted the boat experienced burned down to the waterline and continued to smolder about 1 mile west of Nehalem Bay State Park.
